The Smart-B project (no. 2025-1-LV01-KA220-VET-000357121) is implemented by the Schools Development Foundation (partner) under the Erasmus+ Action 2 Strategic Partnerships for Vocational Education and Training program.

The Smart-B project is implemented with financial support from the European Commission.

Goals:

– Create a virtual simulator that helps hospitality students develop professional vocabulary and fluency in foreign languages.

– Address the shortcoming in foreign language learning with regard to the lack of time dedicated to speaking practice in standard lessons.

– Improve the decision-making, problem-solving and intercultural communication skills of VET students.

– Ensure that all materials are applicable to general foreign language learning and adaptable to diverse educational needs.

 

Activities:

– Creation of Scenario Library consisting of real-life scenarios common in the hospitality field, prompts and worksheets for each scenario.

– Development of the tool consisting of 3 blocks: front desk officer, room attendant, waiter.

– Testing and quality assurance.

– Creation of a user guide.

– 3 international meetings.

– 1 training on how to use the tool.

– Translation/adaptation of materils in EN, LV, PL, DE.

– Piloting of the tool with a big number of students.

– Final conferences.

 

Results:

– Interactive hospitality industry simulator with 90 authentic scenarios,

– Available in 4 languages and divided into 3 thematic blocks: front desk officer, room attendant, waiter.

– Adaptable to different educational levels and individual learning needs.

– Improved VET students’ foreign language skills, especially speaking skills and professional vocabulary.

– Improved soft skills, such as intercultural communication and problem-solving skills of the involved students.

– A detailed user guide.
